Speech Therapy

Pediatric speech therapy addresses communication disorders, giving children the tools they need to develop language and improve social interactions. Speech therapy can also address feeding concerns. At Better Beginnings, we do not provide treatment for swallowing disorders; however, we can support children with sensory-related feeding challenges, such as picky eating.

Learn more about Speech Therapy

  • Children who may benefit from speech therapy typically have challenges with:

    • Weak oral muscles

    • Cognitive or other developmental delays

    • Motor planning issues

    • Difficulty with expressive or receptive language

    • Hearing impairment

    • Communication device training

Therapy sessions are often play-based and engaging, allowing children to practice new skills while having fun and building confidence.

  • Communication encompasses so much of our lives and speech therapy focuses on improving a child’s ability to express themselves and understand language. Early intervention is crucial. According to sources,(ASHA?)  therapy should begin early, benefiting the most before age 5, since this is a crucial time period for language development and younger children tend to have better results. By combining clinical skills with play-based approaches, speech therapists support the child’s development and the family’s ability to help their child reach full potential.

Hear from one of our families…

“Communication was top-notch and the final outcome was even better than we imagined. A great experience all around.”

-Rachel Cantrell, Baylor's Mom

You Are Not Alone

Many families worry about developmental delays, but they are more common than people realize. Research shows that about 1 in 6 children in the United States has a developmental delay or disability, including challenges with speech, motor skills, or learning. The good news is that early support can make a powerful difference.
