Physical Therapy

Pediatric physical therapy can address a variety of concerns, including bone and muscle disorders, sports-related injuries, and conditions affecting the brain, spine, nerves, or genetics. Physical therapy helps children improve their range of motion, strength, flexibility, and movement patterns so they can move their bodies more freely and confidently. The goal is to help children move how and when they want, to the best of their abilities, making everyday activities easier and more enjoyable.

Learn more about Physical Therapy

  • Children who may benefit from physical therapy typically have challenges with:

    • Gross motor development due to developmental delays

    • Muscle weakness or imbalances in strength

    • Poor coordination and motor planning

    • Nerve/muscle conditions, such as cerebral palsy

    • Genetic disorders, such as Down’s Syndrome

    • Recovery from sports- and non-sports-related injuries

    • Balance

Therapy sessions are often play-based and engaging, allowing children to practice new skills while having fun and building confidence.

  • Not only is physical therapy helpful for addressing your child’s strength and development and for assessing/addressing how easily they can stand and walk, but PT can also promote independence and the ability to participate in everyday routines by increasing the child’s ability to do so. According to sources, physical therapists are movement experts. By combining clinical skills with play-based approaches, they support the child’s development and the family’s ability to help their child reach full potential.

Hear from one of our families…

“Communication was top-notch and the final outcome was even better than we imagined. A great experience all around.”

-Rachel Cantrell, Baylor's Mom

You Are Not Alone

Many families worry about developmental delays, but they are more common than people realize. Research shows that about 1 in 6 children in the United States has a developmental delay or disability, including challenges with speech, motor skills, or learning. The good news is that early support can make a powerful difference.
